Phyllis Elaine (McCargar) LeRoy, age 73 of North Mankato, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Mankato Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.
Phyllis was born on August 3, 1936 in Onamia, MN. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Zellmer) McCargar. Phyllis attended school in North Mankato. She was united in marriage to Neil "Grassy" LeRoy in 1969 in Mankato. Phyllis was employed as a Dietary Aide at Immanuel Hospital, later Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, and Oaklawn Health Care Center and retired in 2001. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Past President of VFW Post 950 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary, and the Forrest G. James Marine Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed playing Bingo, watching game shows, trips to Las Vegas with Grassy, family gatherings, and going out for supper with friends.
Phyllis is survived by her two brothers, Kurt (Nancy) Evans of North Mankato and Jerald McCargar of Apple Valley; one sister-in-law, Caroline Jones of Mankato; also many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grassy; two brothers, Harlon and Wallace McCargar; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie.
