Armella Rosalia Willaert, age 85 of North Mankato, died peacefully Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Fr. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials preferred to the Armella Willaert family and VINE Faith in Action.
Armella Willaert was born September 6, 1924 in St. Cloud, MN to Michael and Frederica Henning. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech in 1942, and later graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1986. She married Lawrence Willaert on November 25, 1948, and later divorced. Armella was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, was an active member of the Summit Center, and the League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed reading, sewing, was a frequent contributor to the Mankato Free Press Editorials, and was active in conserving the environment.
Armella is survived by her 9 children, Kathleen Willaert of Silt, CO, Barbara Alders (James) of Roseville, MN, Christine Guck (Kevin) of Ridgway, CO, Tim (Laura) Willaert of St. Peter, Susan (Mark) Olson, Shirley Royse, Karen (Kirk) Saiki, Annette (Larry) Wallace, Kevin (Jeannie) Willaert, all of Mankato; 19 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tyler) Smith, Alex Alders, Briana (Joey) Barr, Whitney Olson, Brett Olson, Klarissa Saiki, Kameron Saiki, Alaina Royse, Levi Hinton, Lee (Anna) Willaert, Angela Morris, Elizabeth Morris, Kate Willaert, Josh Willaert, Jake Willaert, Brody Christensen, Derek Engen, Nicole Guck, Jesse Guck; one brother, Val (Kathleen) Henning of St. Cloud; and one sister, Carme (Richard) Teske of Lincoln, CA.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Mary Jane Willaert; son, Larry Willaert; her parents, Michael and Frederica Henning; brothers, Vincent Henning, Vernon Henning, Edward Henning, Wally Henning, Othmar Henning; sister, Maureen "Girlie" Jumer.
