Burton A. Krummel, age 80, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or the donor's choice.
Burton was born on April 5, 1930 to W. Arthur and Elizabeth (Jones) Krummel. He attended Judson grade school and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Ruth Neubauer in Judson on March 22, 1952. In his earlier years Burt worked for Johnson Laundry and Hiniker Sand and Gravel. He worked for Skelly Oil Co. (Getty Oil) for over 28 years. After retirement, Burt drove charter bus for Lake Crystal Coaches and drove for Lake Crystal School Bus until he had to retire due to health reasons.
Burt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal, where he was an Elder and sang with the church choir. He was also a member of the Lake Crystal Legion Post 294 for over 50 years and served as Post Commander. He enjoyed watching his own children and grandchildren play sports. He kept clock at the Lake Crystal home football games for many years. He enjoyed early morning coffee with the boys down at Collis and then going down to play cards at the "elevator." He enjoyed watching sports on t.v. and playing golf. It was special to him to spend time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by ALL.
Burt is survived by his wife Ruth of Lake Crystal; son, Greg (Vickie) of Appleton, WI; daughter, Deb Hawker of Lake Crystal; eight grandchildren: Bill (Lori) Hawker, Jeff (Crystal) Hawker both of Mankato, Amy (Nikko) Segal of Eagle Lake, Brad (Ariane) Hawker of Kasota, Allison (Shane) Moseng, Laura, Rebecca, and Jill Krummel all of Appleton, WI; nine great-grandchildren: Jordan, Breanna, Madison, and Carter Hawker, Hayden and Makynna Hawker, Austin and Asia Segal, and Alayna Hawker. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brother and sister; grandson, Adam Hawker; great-granddaughter, Hailey Hawker; and son-in-law, Bill Hawker Sr.
