Allan Harlan Bramer, age 73, of Minnesota Lake, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danville Township, rural Minnesota Lake, with Rev. Michael Mathews officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Thursday at the church and continues one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Allan was born on July 18, 1936 in Vivian Township to Arthur Sr. and Elsie (Radtke) Bramer. He was a 1954 graduate of Minnesota Lake High School. Allan served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1964. He was united in marriage to Ann Brostrom on September 14, 1963 in Mankato. Allan was employed with Nordaas American Homes in Minnesota Lake. In the 25 years he was with N.A.H., he started as a truck driver and moved up the ladder to become Vice President of the company and manager of the cabinet shop. After Nordaas downsized, Allan did various jobs until he started his own business, Mr. Fix-It, and retired in 2008. He was the Mayor of Minnesota Lake for seven years. Allan was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Danville Township. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing things, ice fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Allan is survived by his wife, Ann Bramer of Minnesota Lake; three children, Kellie Jo Bramer of Owatonna, Troy Allan (Amy) Bramer of Amboy, and Debra Lynn (Jason) Gartner of Mapleton; nine grandchildren, Aaron Stender, Tyson and Joshua Bramer, MeganAnn Anderson, Jordan Tillia, Katelyn and Colin Bramer, Dylan and Jaden Gartner; three great-grandchildren, Izaya and Kaleb Stender, and Ava Bramer; one brother, Wesley (Jean) Bramer of Pine City; one sister, Katie Klinder of Morristown; mother-in-law, Louise Brostrom of Mapleton; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur "Artie" Bramer Jr.; brother-in-law, Carl Klinder; sister-in-law, LaJune Bramer; and father-in-law, Vern Brostrom.
