Mary Jean (Jones) Bottenfield, age 55, of Mankato died peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, June 14, 2010 after a valiant fight against cancer.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal.

Mary Jean was born March 20, 1955 to Harold and Renee (Hendricks) Jones in Mankato. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1973 and Mankato Technical College in 1992. Mary Jean was employed by Valley News and Carlson Craft. She was united in marriage to Robert Erickson on June 24, 1971. They later divorced and she then married Ronnie L. Bottenfield on October 15, 1994. Mary Jean was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal where she taught Sunday-School and was a member of Rebecca Circle. She was an avid spectator of her children and grandchildren's activities and sports, enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards, decorating for holidays, watching professional sports, singing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mary Jean is survived by her husband Ronnie; four sons, Chris (Kerry) Erickson of Lake Crystal; Mick (Kim) Erickson of Apple Valley; Andy (Kristi) Erickson of Rochester; Ed (special friend Laura Hutchens) Erickson of Lake Crystal; parents, Harold (Renee) Jones of Lake Crystal; sisters, Nancy (Keith) Frette of Sioux City, IA; Sue Jones of Chandler; Kathy (special friend Tom Betcher) Erickson of Prior Lake; Becky (Calvin) Tate of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Nicholas, Blake, Jack and one expected grandson; in-laws, Nancy (Steve) Eggum of Omaha, NE; Patty (Jim) Tricker of River Falls, WI; Deb Steinbach of New Ulm; Terry Bottenfield of New Ulm; John Bottenfield of Memphis, TN; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by twin daughters, Wendy Sue and Wanda Jean Erickson; one infant brother; one brother-in-law; maternal and paternal grandparents; in-laws, Ruth and Vernon Bottenfield.
