John "Jack" Philip Heelan, age 93, of North Mankato, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Jack was born on October 6, 1920 in Valentine, NE to John and Ethel (Gee) Heelan. He lost his parents at the age of 8 and 16. Jack served in the United States Army Air Corp. as a radio operator in Italy during WW II. He also served in the Civil Conservation Corp. for two terms. Jack met his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth, while visiting relatives in Madelia. He worked for 29 years at North Star Concrete in North Mankato. Jack was a kind and loving, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his four children, Cynthia, Jennifer (Dennis) Connolly, Michael (Rebecca), and Timothy; 7 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth.
