Maxine I. McCormack, age 95 of Mankato and formerly of Garden City, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church in Mankato. Private burial will be held in the Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
Maxine was born on May 22, 1915 in Garden City to Clark and Ida (Lindquist) Jay. She was a graduate of Garden City High School. Maxine was united in marriage to Russell McCormack on October 31, 1937 in Garden City. She was an piano teacher from age 15 until the end of her life. Maxine was a member of Garden City Baptist Church as well as being the church organist until 2006. She was part of the Mankato Music Club, and the National Federation of Music Club. She enjoyed music, piano, her rose garden, hardanger (a Norwegian embroidery handiwork), and church activities. Maxine was also very active in the community.
Maxine is lovingly survived by her three children, Clark (Sharon) McCormack of Gainesville, TX, Bruce (Leslie) McCormack of Springtown, TX, and Mary McCormack-Scott of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren, Mitchell, Jill, Kevin, Elizabeth, Erin, Joshua, Tara, and Jessica; four step-grandchildren, Anthony, Walter Jr., Chaunda, and George; twelve great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 1983 and a son-in-law, Walter Scott.
Mother and Grandmother, Thank you for touching our lives and so many other lives through your love of music, piano lessons and the many life lessons you taught us all. We are going to miss you.
