Roberta "Robbie" Carole Madison, age 67 of Mankato, passed away on May 16, 2010 at Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato. Visitation with the family will take place one hour before the service at the church. Burial took place on Tuesday, May 18 at Roselawn Cemetary in Roseville, Minnesota.
Robbie was born December 25, 1942, the only child of Palmer and Olive Mae (Bishop) Landro in St. Paul. She was baptized and confirmed at Warrendale Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. She attended McClellan and Hancock elementary schools and Wilson High School in St. Paul, graduating in 1960. In 1964 she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in French from the University of Minnesota.
From 1964 to 1968 Robbie taught in the Mounds View (Minnesota) school district at Island Lake School. She moved to Mankato in 1968 and in
1973 began working at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital. In 1986, she became the Director of Volunteer Services at ISJ, a position she held until 2006.
Robbie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mankato for many years. She served two terms as an elder and held a number of administrative positions as a staff member at the church.
Robbie also served on the board of Presbyterian Clearwater Forest in Deerwood, Minnesota, and was a member of the planning committee for the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s General Assembly in Minneapolis in July 2010.
Robbie also participated in and helped to direct a number of community and state organizations for volunteer administrators, including CLOVE, MCDHCV, MAVA, ASDVS, and AVA. In 1992, Robbie was a recipient of the Mankato YWCA's Women of Distinction award. The City of Mankato declared Robbie Madison Day on February 3, 2006, in honor of her last day of employment at Immanuel-St. Joseph's.
Robbie married Rallah Madison in Mankato on July 26, 1998. They enjoyed their combined families and friends, service to the Presbyterian Church (USA), and traveling.
Robbie is survived by her husband, Rallah; sons, David (and Susan) Jacobsen of Minneapolis, Bill Weihrauch of Rosemount, and Andrew Weihrauch of Ames, Iowa; and grandchildren, Caroline and Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Presbyterian Clearwater Forest or the Deacon's Fund of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato.
