Robert John Fasnacht, age 80, of Madison Lake, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church with a 4 p.m., prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born March 27, 1930 to Adolph and Iverna (Miller) Fasnacht in Madison Lake. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1948. Robert served his country with the U.S. Marines as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart. Robert was united in marriage to June M. LaFayette on March 6, 1971 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake. He was self employed operating Ma & Pa's Cleaning Service, cleaning area businesses and also worked for Shopko doing janitorial services. He was also a past city employee for both Madison Lake and Eagle Lake. Robert was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake American Legion Post 269, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed collecting coins, antiques, and playing all sorts of card games.
Robert is survived by his wife, June of Madison Lake; two children, Mike (Beth) Fasnacht of North Mankato, Patti (Ed) Engelby of Lake Crystal; six grandchildren, Cole, Sidney, Olivia, Destiny, Abigail, and Lillian; nine siblings, Helen Chatleain of Mankato, Joseph (Georgia) Fasnacht of North Mankato, Cyril Fasnacht of Mankato, Lucille (Lyle) Grothe of Madison Lake, Dorothy Rasdall, Zita Rohlfing both of Cleveland, Sally Reintjes, Tilda Schneider, and Lorraine Schraml all of Madison Lake; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome; and many extended family.
