Irene Mae Fraser, age 102 of Mankato, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, with Rev. Pam Serdar officiating. Private family burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Centenary United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, or to the donor's choice.
Irene was born on May 9, 1908 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Davis and Amanda (Dabney) Barclay. She attended school in Kirksville, Missouri. Irene was united in marriage to Dr. Robert E. Fraser on August 20, 1928 in Albert Lea. She was a homemaker for her family. Irene was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Chapter U of the PEO Sisterhood, and the Entre Nous Study Club. She enjoyed knitting, needlework, and playing Bridge.
Irene is survived by her two children, Jon (Georgianna) Fraser of Eden Prairie and Jane (John) Todd of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Margie Fraser of Duluth; grandchildren, Eric (Connie) Todd, Owen (Carolyn) Todd, Stephanie (Kurt) Silton, and Thomas Fraser; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Todd, Emma and Jacob Todd.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1993; son, David R. Fraser; two sisters and one brother.
