Herbert Charles Cassett, age 81 of Mankato, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2010 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday.
Herbert was born March 25, 1929 in Mankato to James Charles and Maude (Rhodes) Cassett. He graduated from high school and was united in marriage to Dorothy B. Gray on June 5, 1948 in Mankato. Herbert ran his own overhead garage door business for many years. He more recently worked for Carlson Craft until his retirement. Herbert enjoyed reading, watching the Twins and Vikings, family fishing trips, and in former years, wintering in Harlingen, TX.
Herb is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Mankato; five children, Dawn (Sonny) Biehn of Mankato, Terry Cassett of Mankato, Russ (Cori) Cassett of Billings, MT, Rebecca Cassett Partanen of Mankato, Renee (Dave) Knudson of North Mankato; seven grandchildren, Brett Biehn, Andrew (Lucinda) Biehn, Brenda (Perry) Junker, Justin Cassett, Christopher Partanen, Tammy Partanen, and Nicholas Knudson; three step-grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, and Trevor Knudson; six great-grandchildren, Allistar, Cody, Carlotta, Clarissa, Phillip and Dawson; five step-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Ben, Caitlyn, Gavin, and Camryn.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents.
