Glyde Junette Wheeler, age 84 of Vernon Center, died May 8, 2010 at Immanuel Saint Joseph's Hospital in Mankato after a battle with cancer.
Private family memorial service will be held at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery.
Glyde was born July 29, 1925 in Exira, IA to William and Valborg (Jensen) Wheeler. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1943, Mankato State Teachers College and attained her Masters in Art from the University of Duluth. Glyde worked as a teacher at Pipestone Elementary, Owatonna Elementary, and at the MacNider Museum in Mason City, IA. She enjoyed woodcarving, pottery, and working in her flower gardens.
Glyde is survived by her two brothers, Glenn Wheeler and Richard Wheeler, both of Vernon Center; nephews and niece, Scott Wheeler of Mankato, Beth Liebenow of Plainview, and Stuart Wheeler of West Concord.
Glyde was preceded in death by her parents.
