Evelyn Y Sternitzke

Evelyn Y. Sternitzke, age 95, lifelong resident of the Rapidan and Good Thunder area, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rapidan with Vicar Robert Lund, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Evelyn was born June 19, 1914 to Paul and Petra (Andreasen) Huebner in Rapidan. She was united in marriage to Arnold Sternitzke on September 3, 1933 in Rapidan. Evelyn farmed with her husband and was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crafts.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, LaVonne (Al) Krzyzaniak of Bloomington and JoAnn (Paul) Stewig of Good Thunder; four grandchildren, Jana (Jonathan) Swenson, Debbie (Jeffery) Kienholz, Michael (Gerry) Stewig, Rebecca (Michael) Gummow; seven great-grandchildren, Christina and Caitlyn Swenson, Jordan, Mackenzie, and Emily Kienholz, Benjamin and T.J. Stewig; two sisters, Luella Rieman and Esther Kunz; nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold in 1980; sister, Dorothea Newell; two brothers, George Huebner and Paul Huebner.
