Edna H Speck

Edna H. Speck, age 93, of Good Thunder, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.

A Tribute to Edna's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Good Thunder.

Legacies going forward in Edna's memory may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Maple River Schools Wetland Restoration and Adoption Project, and Natural Surroundings Adult Day Care.

Edna's legacy started on May 19, 1916 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County when she was born to Emil and Selma (Bindig) Huebsch. She married Max P. Speck on November 21, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked on the family farm with Max as both manager and house wife. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, Ladies Aid, Home Extension, and was a 4-H Leader. Her hobbies included sewing, decorating her home, painting, drawing, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed working at home and on the farm.

Edna's living legacy is her children; son, Curtis Speck of San Francisco, CA; daughters Karen (John) Williams of Perham, MN, Sandra Speck of Eagan, MN; one grandson, Lance (Sherry) Williams of Billings, MO; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Hayden; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and cousins. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max on December 23, 1985; and two brothers.
