Veronica Imelda Steffen, age 87, of Mankato, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato with Rev. Don Rauscher officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary with a 7 p.m. prayer service and will continue one hour before service at church on Wednesday.
Veronica was born February 17, 1923 to Paul and Julia (Kullot) Staloch in Wells, Minnesota. She graduated from Wells High School in 1941. She married Melvin Roessler on February 7, 1942 in Minnesota Lake. Melvin died in a plane crash in 1953. She later married Marvin "Jack" Steffen on May 25, 1979 in Mankato. Veronica was employed by Midtex for many years. She was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Veronica enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.
Veronica is survived by her husband, Marvin "Jack" Steffen of Mankato; three children, Patricia (Brent) Amundson of Moorhead, Dianne (Warren) Krekelberg of Shoreview, and Marlin Roessler of Houston, TX; four step-children, Bruce (Georgia) Steffen of Eagle Lake, Pam (Dale) Burmeister of Faribault, Jeanette Sauck of Mankato, Kathy (Dave) Lowery of Roberts, WI; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary "Rita" Townsend of North Mankato and Yvonne (Ray) Korteum of Two Harbors; brother, Clem (Crystal) Staloch of Ellensburg, WA; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Melvin; three sisters; one brother; and a son-in-law.
