Paul Korpal, age 95, of Dodge Center and formerly of Mankato, died Saturday, September 6, 2003 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Ted Hottinger, S.J. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Paul was born on April 11, 1908, in Taunton, Lyon County, MN. He was the son of Valentine and Marcyanna (Janakowski) Korpal. On May 7, 1935, Paul was united in marriage to Alice M. Mans in North Mankato. Following their marriage, they lived in North Mankato and Mankato for a few years and later made their home in Dodge Center. After Alices death, Paul continued to live in Dodge Center until moving to Mankato on August 25, 2003, when he became ill. Paul was employed with the Chicago Great Western Railroad Company for 44 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church in Dodge Center. Pauls hobbies included fishing, nature and being outdoors, spending time at his sons cabin, and raising roses. He enjoyed caring for and helping family and friends.
Paul was a loving father to his two sons and their wives, Earl R. and Amelfis Korpal of Miami, Florida, and Donald and Charyl Korpal of Mankato; one step-granddaughter, Maria of Miami, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice in 1963; and ten brothers and sisters, including Lewis, Joe, Frank, Nicholas (James), John, Rosa Arnsdorf, and Mary Kubishak.
