Mankato, MN " Edward Fredrick Bisping, age 85, of Mankato, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital.
Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Monday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rapidan with Rev. James Holthius officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to St. Johns Lutheran Church, Bethany Lutheran College, or Alzheimers Association.
Edward was born September 19, 1917 in Lakefield, Minnesota to Louis Henry and Anna Marie Martha (Luenburg) Bisping. During his youth, he lived in Mankato and Lakefield and attended parochial schools in Mankato and Lakefield. Edward served in the United States Army during World War II, in England, France and Germany. In 1945, he moved to the Rapidan area, attended GI Farm School and began farming.
On October 6, 1949, he was united in marriage to Naomi Irene Davis at Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County. She died on October 25, 1990. Edward worked at Year-A-Round Cab Company in Mankato from 1973-1978 and retired from farming in 1977.
Edward was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rapidan, where he had served as trustee, secretary, treasurer, and was active in the Mens Club. He enjoyed fishing, farming, playing cards, visiting friends, going for rides, and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three children and their spouses; Elayne and Everett Luiken of Mankato, Niles and Wendy Bisping of Edina, Irene and Henry Ahmed of Houston, TX; eleven grandchildren, Stacey and David Luiken, Amy (Luiken) Myhra, Aleda and Davis Bisping, Mgbore, Naomi, and Jumor Njoku, Mijduline, Adam and Patricia Ahmed; one great-granddaughter, Abbigail Luiken; a sister, Erna Beckmann of Wells; one niece, two nephews, and one cousin. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
