John Hawthorn
John William Hawthorn II, age 91, of Lake Crystal and formerly of Pennsylvania and Vermont, died August 26, 2003 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
A memorial celebration will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Country Neighbors in Lake Crystal. Arrangements were with Mankato Mortuary.
John was born January 21, 1912 in Oaklyn, New Jersey to John William and Mary Ann (Sykes) Hawthorn. He married Emily Elizabeth Billman. John was a farmer, construction worker and trade unionist. He was a churchman, volunteer fireman, fisherman, gardener, storyteller, and a pinochle player. John moved to Lake Crystal in January 2003 to be near his daughter.
His loving family includes, John W. Hawthorn III of Lago Vista, TX; Elizabeth Ann Hawthorn and husband, Mickey Dooling of rural St. Peter; Margaret Hawthorn and husband, Bruce MacDougall of Winchendon, Mass.; Bob and Donna Bowen of Newport, VT and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and son Edward.
