Beatrice Viola Sniff, age 97, of rural Eagle Lake, died Saturday, August 23, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hilltop United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Koppen officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to Hilltop United Methodist Church or Eagle Lake American Legion Auxiliary.
Beatrice was born on November 2, 1905 in Gray Horse, Saskatchewan, Canada to Cory and Agnes Mills. In 1924, she was united in marriage to Elmer Sniff in Willmar, Saskatchewan, Canada. They moved to Eagle Lake in 1937. She was a homemaker for her family and was employed as a cook for various restaurants, including, Century Club, Burton Restaurant, and Mankato Golf Club. She was a member of Hilltop United Methodist Church and the Eagle Lake American Legion Auxiliary. She was active with birthday and card clubs and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and baking.
Survivors include four children, Frances Wiley of Klamath Falls, OR, Agnes Lowry of Brooklyn Park, MN, Kenneth Sniff and his wife, Lois of Placerville, CA, Ronald Sniff of Eagle Lake; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith McWilliams of Berkley, MI; nieces, nephews, cousins and best friend, Tipper. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; two sons, Paul in 1968 and Warren in 1994; three sons-in-law, Al Rose in 1970, Richard Lowry in 1986, and Carl Wiley in 2002; one sister and one brother.
