Heinrich Bernhard Oberle, age 76 of Mankato, died Saturday evening, August 2, 2003 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Private services will be held with a military graveside in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5 " 7 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2003 at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank or donors choice.

Heinrich B. Oberle was born October 16, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany. He attended two years of college in Germany and became an engineer apprentice. Heinrich moved to the United States in 1949. He was united in marriage to Eline Jensen on June 6, 1951 in Chicago, IL. Heinrich served his country in the United States Army as a sergeant with the Corp. of Engineers in the Korean Conflict. He worked at a foundry in Chicago before moving to Mankato in 1969 where he was employed by the Continental Can Co. as a draftsman and designer. He retired in 1985.

Heinrich was a member of the Mankato Elks. He enjoyed fishing, reading and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Eline; four children, Gale Wersal and husband, Randy of North Mankato, Mark Oberle and wife, Barbara of New Ulm, Rick Oberle and wife, Janelle of North Mankato, Jodi Reitmeier and husband, Glenn of Sioux City, IA; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, and Daniel Wersal, Adam, Thomas and Eric Oberle, Maxwell Oberle, Tiffany and Kelsey Reitmeier; brother-in-law, Ronald Jensen and wife, Dorothy of Michigan; nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother and his wife.
