Kenneth Earl Ziegler, age 85 of Mankato, died Monday (July 28, 2003) at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Mapleton with Rev. Richard Salge and Rev. Marlyn Kruse officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Good Thunder, MN. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before services at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to donors choice.

Kenneth Earl Ziegler was born July 30, 1917 in Decoria Township to Herman and Minnie (Marble) Ziegler. He married Verona Eggert on October 20, 1940 in Rapidan. She died April 1967. On December 4, 1976, he was united in marriage to Betty (Spence) Rutjes in Mankato.

Kenneth farmed in the Beauford area for most of his life. He was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. He enjoyed farming, gardening and was always proud of his yard and fields.

Survived by wife, Betty Ziegler of Mankato; son, Earl K. Ziegler and wife, Lynette of Good Thunder; three grandchildren, Eric Ziegler and wife, Kristine, Samuel Ziegler and wife, Angela, Veronica Ziegler and special friend, Jerry Bruckhoff; stepson, Robert Rutjes and wife, Gail of Mankato; stepdaughter, Judy (Anton) McCollum and husband, Dan of Houston, TX; five step-grandchildren, Robin Burtzel and friend, Joe, Jose and Rob Wyteskie, Pauline and Michael Medina, Patrick and Erin Anton, Julie Rutjes and friend Tom; nine step-great-grandchildren, Andera and Brianna, Robert and Anna, Chase and Brittany, Sean, Christa and Nicklas; two brothers and their wives, Claude and Sophie Ziegler of Rapidan, John and LaVerta Ziegler of Bruno, MN; two sisters, Deloris Schonrock of Mapleton, Inez Shaw of Mapleton; sister-in-law, Irene Ziegler of Mapleton; brother-in-law, Harold Greis of Mankato; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by first wife, two brothers, and six sisters.
