Dorphia Brown

Dorphia L. Brown, age 89 of Madelia formerly of Denver, died Monday, June 9, 2003 at the Luther Memorial Home, Madelia, where she had lived for the past 3 years. Private family services were held in Glenwood Springs, CO, Friday, June 13, 2003. Interment was in Rosebud Cemetery, Glenwood Springs. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003 at First Baptist Church, Lake Crystal. She was born September 14, 1913 in Chicago, IL to James and Dorphia (Hanson) Silhanek. She graduated from high school in the Chicago area and later attended college for 2 years. She was united in marriage to Edward Brown in Jan. of 1937 in Valparaiso, IN. He died in Jan. of 1965. She worked at various department stores in Denver. She was assistant secretary for 5 years at the Beth Eden Baptist Schools in Denver. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Crystal. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Dorphia and Rev. Jerry David of Lake Crystal; a son, Clarence Brown of Madison, WI; four grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and a brother.
