Alice Mae Benson, age 88, of Madison Lake died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake, MN, with Father Robert Schneider and Father Andrew Olsem officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, also in Madison Lake, MN. Arrangements are with Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to All Saints Catholic School.

Alice was the fourth child of Joseph and Teresa (Hable) Weimert. She was born on February 5, 1926 in Grand Forks, ND, and graduated from Loyola High School in 1944. She married James J. Benson on February 16, 1946 and they made their home in Mapleton, MN for many years. In 1971, Alice and Jim moved to a home on Duck Lake (near Madison Lake), MN for the remaining years of their lives. Jim died on November 6, 1991. Alice was a homemaker for most of her life but in her later years she was active in her church (All Saints Catholic Church) and drove for senior citizens in both Le Sueur and Blue Earth Counties. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, swimming at the YMCA, gardening, dancing, but most of all having her family at her home on the lake.

Alice was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and is survived by her six children; Thomas of Hutchinson, MN, Susann (Greg) Rosenow of Madison Lake, MN, Michael (Lisa) of Waseca, MN, Edward of Madison Lake, MN, Arthur of Meza, AZ, Patrick of Greenfield, MN; grandchildren, Kari (Robert) Stock, Jeff Benson, Sarah Benson, Jennifer (Glenn) Fraze, Jason (Angela) Krohn, Sara Rosenow, Teresa (James) DeLadi, Katherine (Nathan) Holtegaard, Charles (Nikki) Benson, Bridgett (Damon) Nowak, Meghan Jewison, Kaitlin Jewison, Jessica Benson, Jennah Benson, Jacob Benson, Jorden Benson, Josh Benson, Hannah Watts, James Benson, and Kayla Benson; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Lamm of Mankato, MN; two sisters-in-laws, Hilly Weimert of WI, and Margie Benson of Mapleton, MN; one brother-in-law, Joseph Benson of CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; and three brothers, Louie Weimert, Jerry Weimert, and Edward Weimert.
