Florence, the fourth of seven children, was born to Edward and Henrietta (Wandersee) Guentzel on a Blue Earth County farm on March 10, 1922. She attended Lime Township country school and proudly graduated from Mankato High School in 1940, the only one in her family to do so. As noted by her high school friends in her yearbook, Florence had "both beauty and brains." After graduating, she worked at Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company as a secretary. Always a model of efficiency, she was able to transcribe short hand notes on a manual typewriter at the rate of 80 words per minute.

On May 8, 1947, she married her sweetheart, Kenny, with whom she had faithfully corresponded during his three years in the European theater during World War II. Their marriage was an admirable team effort in everything they did, including raising their eight children. Florence worked hard to support all of Kenneth's business ventures " she was a true partner in everything he accomplished.

Florence led a very active life and enjoyed family time, bowling, playing cards, golfing, and traveling. She was named "best nine-hole women's golfer" by the Mankato Golf Club and was a long-time member of a bowling team. She was very fond of all her grandchildren, who believe she was the greatest grandmother ever. She taught her children and grandchildren how to play cards, and will always be remembered for those times together. In addition to raising a large family and supporting her husband, she found time to devote to charitable organizations: she served meals at the school cafeteria, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was President of the Women's Guild at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Florence is survived by eight children, Thomas (Julie) Hiniker of Mankato, Gloria McVay of Winona, MN, Gary (Kim) Hiniker of Mankato, Ronald (Sherl) Hiniker of Mankato, Duane (Michelle) Hiniker of Mankato, Fredric Hiniker of Mankato, Dale (Joan) Hiniker of North Mankato, Sandra (Matt) Ammentorpof Faribault, MN; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Marilyn Decker of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2012; her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.
