Jason James Speckeen, age 40, of Mankato, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17 from 4-6 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary. A private family service will be held.

Jason was born on September 16, 1973 in Springfield, OR to James and Lyn (Halvorson) Speckeen. He attended Mankato West High School. He worked for Eli Nelson and Don Kopp Dry Wall for over 15 years. On July 30, 2013, Jason was united in marriage to Molly Benson at the KISS HOTTER THAN HELL Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Jason enjoyed fishing, cooking, and watching football. He was a car guy, he especially loved the Trans Am. Jason was an artist and loved to draw. He enjoyed time spent with his sons and godchildren.

Jason is survived by his wife, Molly; two sons, Nick and Lance; parents, James and Lyn; sister, Missy (Eli) Nelson; nephews, Alexander and Augustus Nelson; niece, Averiana Nelson; grandma, Marge Halvorson; mother-in-law, Margie Benson; two favorite cats, Smokey and Tiger; and three sisters-in-law and their families. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
