Violet Amelia Allen, age 95, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Lake Crystal Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Violet was born April 3, 1919, in Russell, MN to Allen and Opal (Wood) Halstead. She attended school in Russell. Violet married Eugene Allen in 1940. She was a homemaker for her family. Violet was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, canning, reading, and visiting with family and friends.

Violet is survived by her children, Myrle (JoAnn) Allen of Lake Crystal, Ralph "Bud" (Rosie) Allen of Eagle Lake, and Judy (Lester) Rustman of Vernon Center; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Leota Allen of Motley; brother-in-law, Marvin (Sylvia) Allen of Mankato; and also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene in 1980; daughter, Lorraine in 2004; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
