Ingvild D. Jenson, age 92 of Mankato, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Ted Hottinger S.J. officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mankato Area Catholic Schools or Riverside Regional Pet Shelter. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ingvild was born January 25, 1919 to Einar and Dena (Bakken) Jenson in Rock Dell, Olmsted County, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Irene Hassing on September 15, 1940 in Blooming Prairie, MN. He served his country in the US Army from 1945 - 1946, spending one year in Okinawa. Ingvild worked at Continental Can for 35 years as a facilities engineer and enjoyed 35 years of retirement. He was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, VFW Post # 950, American Legion Post # 11, Post #11 Honor Guard for 25 years, and the Last Man's Club. He enjoyed his family, doing volunteer work, fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing.
Ingvild is survived by four children, Dave (Jo) Jenson of Hudson, WI, Mary Johnston of Mankato, Ken (Candy) Jenson of Lake Washington, and Chris Bode of Mankato; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his wife Irene of 70 years, parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
