Joel Kent Johnson, age 67, of Zimmerman and formerly of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his residence.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joel was born on June 20, 1944 in Mankato. He was the son of Lyle and Evelyn (Nietzel) Johnson. Joel was a 1962 graduate of Lake Crystal High School. He served in the U.S. Marines completing two tours during the Viet Nam War. Joel was employed as a machinist for several companies and was most recently with All Tool in Elk River. He had been disabled for the last twenty years. Joel enjoyed reading and fishing.
Joel is survived by his daughter, Jessica Wright of Anoka; granddaughter, Morgan Wright of Anoka; grandson, Dalton Wright of Fridley; sister, Kathryn (Donald Herrick) Sargent of Naples, FL; brother, Richard (Betty) Johnson of Fridley; niece, Lori (Doug) Peter; and nephews, Daniel, Dennis (Carline), and Darren Sargent, Robert and Raymond Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
