Phyllis L. Sweet, age 84 of Mankato, died Friday, September 30, 2011 at Mayo Health Systems in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Centenary United Methodist Church.

Phyllis was born August 1, 1927 in LeSueur to Herbert and Hattie (Bauleke) Dressel. She grew up on a farm in Sharon Township outside of LeSueur. Phyllis graduated from LeSueur High School and continued her education at Mankato Commercial College. Phyllis was united in marriage to Donald L. Sweet on September 29, 1949 in LeSueur. They made their home in Mankato. She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Phyllis was a very active member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She worked at the Mankato State College book store for many years. Phyllis enjoyed collecting Santa Clauses and spending time with family and friends.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 62 years, Don "Sparky" Sweet of Mankato; daughter, Karen (Jim) Grzeskowiak of Little Falls; two sons, Mike (Tese) Sweet and Lynn (Pat Oftedahl) Sweet all of Mankato; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Keith Hennager.
