Mildred "Milly" Dartt, age 92, of Mankato, died Friday, September 23, 2011, surrounded by her family at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen and Chaplain Marilyn Underwood officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Milly wished that either memorials were designated to BENCHS Riverside Regional Pet Shelter or for others to volunteer their time and talent on her behalf.
Milly was born on August 14, 1919, in Argusville, N.D. She was the daughter of John and Elna (Mattson) Blixt. Milly was baptized and confirmed at Herby Lutheran Church in Argusville and attended Berlin School. Following her marriage to William J. Erickson on April 18, 1942, they moved to Lincoln, NE where she worked at Miller & Paine Dept. Store. Milly later returned to Fargo, N.D. where she worked for Buttrey's, JC Penney, Crahan Drug, and O'Meara's of Moorhead, MN. She was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fargo.
On May 31, 1968 Milly was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Dartt in Watertown, S.D. They lived in Hudson, WI before making their home in Mankato, MN in 1969. Milly was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge. She had many artistic talents that she used in recycling greeting cards for the Summit Center where she volunteered for years. She continued to share cards with family and friends. Milly also enjoyed ceramics, bowling, walking, reading, and going on trips to "JJ" with friends. She loved watching sports, most importantly the MN Twins who have been her sports passion for some 40 years. Milly's favorite love was time that she spent with her grandchildren. She was a courageous 35 year cancer survivor.
Milly is survived by her daughter, Debi (Blase) Burger of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Mark Zrust, Danielle and Crystal Burger, Starla (Mike) Johnson, Anthony Flynn, all of Mankato, Jerry Weigand of Dodson, MT, and Jeff Moordian of NY; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Roy Blixt of Arthur, N.D.; also nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 1988; daughter, Billie Flynn in 2000; three sisters, Jean, Anna, and Mabel; and three brothers, George, Leonard, and Donald.
