Orville Burnis Helling, age 92, of Mankato, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Orville was born on January 9, 1919 in Lake Hanska Township to Oscar and Bertha (Rono) Helling. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Orville was an auto mechanic for many years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnessess. Orville enjoyed playing cards, reading, music, writing in his journal, and history. He touched a lot of lives and always had a smile for everybody.
Orville is survived by his son, Burnis Ellertson of Madelia; three daughters, Sondra (Eric) Sumner of Rapidan, Toni (Jay) Jaskulke of Butterfield, and Susan (Dan) Wells of Salem, OR; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, June Gieseke and brother, Arden Helling, both of Bejou; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
