Richard Edward O'Brien, age 74, of Mankato, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Richard was born on August 3, 1937 in Amboy. He was the son of Milan and Esther (Wilde) O'Brien. Richard attended school in Amboy. He was united in marriage to Nancy Guth on March 24, 1961 in Mankato. Richard worked for many car dealerships in Mankato and loved his last job as a crosswalk guard for District 77 for many years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed watching wrestling and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; four daughters, Tina (Buddy) Weimern, Cindy (Steve Sr.) Wolfe, Lorraine (Scott Sr.) Burgess, and Nicole O'Brien; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Guth; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin granddaughters, Heather and Heidi; three sisters and one brother-in-law.
