Karolyn Marie (Schuch) Fitzpatrick, age 61, of North Mankato, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at North Mankato Mortuary - Northview, 2060 Commerce Drive, and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato Dialysis Unit.
Karolyn was born April 23, 1950 in Mankato to John and Opal (Nourie) Schuch. She was one of 6 children. She attended grade school at St. John's Catholic School in Mankato and later graduated from Loyola High School. In 1969 she graduated from Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute in North Mankato where she received her degree as a Practical Nurse. Karolyn married William Fitzpatrick on October 4, 1969. After their marriage, they lived in Kentucky where Bill was stationed in the Army. She worked as a nurse in Hopkinsville, KY and later in Mankato. Karolyn enjoyed crocheting and reading, and was a founding member and past president of the Minnesota Valley Corvette Club and enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. She enjoyed trains and butterflies, but most of all took great delight in her grandchildren.
Karolyn is survived by her loving husband, William of North Mankato; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Bessler of Apple Valley; grandchildren, Nolan and Ethan; mother, Opal Schuch of Mankato; siblings Ronald (Carol) Schuch of Janesville, J. Arthur Schuch of Amboy, JoAnne Schuch of Mora; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Greg Tegels of Waconia, Kathy and Frank Goettl of Mankato, Thomas and Janie Fitzpatrick of Duluth, and Danette and Keith Rollings of Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Karolyn was preceded in death by her father, John Schuch in 1982; brother, Herbert in 1974; sister-in-law, Charlene Schuch in 2010; and sister, Charlene (Greg) Tegels in 2011.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care given to Karolyn by the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Dialysis Unit in Mankato.
