Mary Ann Hilda Sandt, age 82, of Lake Crystal, peacefully met Jesus, August 4, 2011, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lake Crystal with Fr. John Wilmot, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary with a 1:45 p.m., prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before service at church on Monday. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.
Mary Ann was born in Mankato on November 19, 1928 to John and Loretta (Schwamberger) Mitchell. Mary Ann grew up in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School in 1947. She later moved to Lake Crystal upon her marriage to Robert A. Sandt on July 7, 1951 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato.
Her life centered on her faith, family, and friends. Mary Ann was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed. Her empathy and generosity touched many lives.
"It is my wish not to write services done. I tried to live my life serving the Lord, my husband, children, and grandchildren. My rewards come from God not from the world".
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Robert of sixty years; four children and eight grandchildren, Judy (Jim) Clasen of St. Paul and their children, Nicole (Scott) Pierskalla and children, Emma and Clara, Ana Clasen (Walter Munson Jr.) and their children, Monica, Walter III, and Van, Rebecca (Richard) Thompson; Nanette (Dennis) Clark of Rochester and their children, Amanda Clark, Rachel Clark and fianc", Daniel Hesch; Lisa (Michael) Miest of St. James and their son, Kyle Miest; Mike (Liz) Sandt of Lake Crystal and their children, Katy Sandt and Thomas Sandt; half brother, Don (Ev) Mennenga; half sister, JoAnn (Gene) VanOverbeke; four nephews, Doug Mennenga, Jeff (Christy) VanOverbeke, Jason VanOverbeke, and John VanOverbeke; special niece, Rene" Lusian; niece, Cherie Lusian; uncle, Leonard (Betty) Schwamberger; aunt, Dorothy Schmoll; cousins, her extended family and her many friends.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John and Loretta; step-father, Ted Mennenga; half sister, Geraldine; granddaughter, Alicia Clasen; mother and father-in-law, Gertrude and William Sandt; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Pete) Peterson; brother-in-law, Gerald Sandt.
