Donald L. Pietsch, age 67 of Mankato died Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Nancys Comfort Kare, rural Kasota. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00a.m., Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Visitation on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Saturday one hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Nancys Comfort Kare, Kasota or Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospice program.
Donald was born October 22, 1936 in Mankato to Leslie and Rose (Trio) Pietsch. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1954. He was in the Minnesota National Guard for a number of years. He was united in marriage to Katherine Kay Willaert on November 19, 1960 in Mankato. Mr. Pietsch farmed all of his life, retiring in 2001. He brought and sold farm produce at the farmers market in Mankato for over 20 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Pietsch; four children and their spouses, Randy and Christine Pietsch of Grimes, IA, Brian and Shelley Pietsch of Townsend, DE, Jason and Lori Pietsch of St. Clair, Kendra and Tyler Young of Janesville, WI; 10 grandchildren; his father, Leslie Pietsch of Mankato; five sisters and their husbands, Dort and Leon Willaert of St. Peter; Pat and Bill Depuydt of St. Peter, Connie and Jerry Scheurer of Lafayette, Bonnie and Greg Thomas of San Luis Obispo, CA, Ginny and Alan Scheurer of Mankato; a brother and his wife, Dean and Delores Pietsch of Mankato; brother-in-law, Merle Wilmes of Mankato.
Donald was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin; his mother, Rose; sister, Kathy; infant sister, Mary Jo and an infant brother, Larry.
