Sister M. Elise Evan, School Sister of Notre Dame, age 93, died Friday, November 28, 2003, at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Good Counsel Chapel, with Fr. Neal Wilkinson, SJ, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Good Counsel Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Good Counsel, with Vespers in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge.
Sister M. Elise was born November 25, 1910, in Minnesota Lake, MN, to Herman and Elisabeth (Hassing) Evan. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1928 and took First Vows in 1931. With a Bachelor degree in Education she taught principally in primary grades in schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington. In 1986 she came to Good Counsel where she taught in Good Counsel Learning Center before retiring in 1992.
Sister M. Elise is survived by two sisters, Margaret Latourelle and Elizabeth Bach, both from Minnesota Lake, by nieces and nephews, and by her Sisters in Community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Genevieve and Mary, and by a brother, Edward.
