Irma Anderson

Irma R. Anderson, age 84, of Mankato died Monday, November 24, 2003 at the St. Peter Health Care Center, St. Peter.

Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, Mankato with Rev. John Michel officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Saturday. If so desired memorials may be given to Alzheimers Association, Grace Baptist Church or an organization of the donors choice.

She was born October 31, 1919 in Mankato to James and Stella (Steele) Gates. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School, Santa Cruz, CA in 1937. She was united in marriage to Harold Anderson on December 23, 1938 in Mankato, he died in April of 1997. Irma was a secretary at Washington Elementary School for 25 years retiring in 1985. She did volunteer work at the Thrift Shop and Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital. She enjoyed reading, walking, knitting, home bible study, letter writing and traveling to Detroit, MI. Mrs. Andersons favorite places were the Bible Conferences at Okoboji, IA and her time spent in Tucson, AZ . She was one of seven charter members of Grace Baptist Church, where she has been a member for 48 years.
Irma sang many times on the I Believe in Miracles television program.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Stippel of St. Peter, Peggy Ratze and her husband, Bob of Novi, MI; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Lorentz of Mankato, Hazel Finkle of CA; one brother, Cecil Gates and his wife, Beverly of Mankato; many nephews and nieces.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant son.
