Gertrude Butson

Gertrude A. Nick Butson, age 91 of Lake Crystal died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at the Garden City Christian Church, with Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Interment is in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lake Crystal Mortuary, and also one hour before services at church on Wednesday. If so desired, memorials may be given to Garden City Christian Church or to the donors choice.

Mrs. Butson was born December 12, 1911 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth Co. to Frank and Nellie J. (Terry) Nickerson. She graduated from Garden City High School and the Mankato Beauty School. She was united in marriage to H. Rodney Butson on August 7, 1934 in Garden City. She was a homemaker and member of Garden City Christian Church. She enjoyed piano playing, gardening, birdwatching, and bingo. For the last three years, she had been residing at Country Neighbors in Lake Crystal.

She is survived by two daughters, Jacalyn Jackie Jones and her husband, David of rural Lake Crystal, Beverly Thurston and her husband, Keith of Madelia; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H. Rodney; one grandson; two brothers and two sisters.
