David L. Cooper, age 61, of Vernon Center, died Friday, November 7, 2003 at United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Rev. Thomas Lock officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
David L. Cooper was born September 15, 1942 in Winnebago to Donald Lyle and Marie O. (McMonagle) Cooper. He graduated in 1960 from Garden City High School and started trucking with his father. On August 28, 1966, he was united in marriage to Dianne S.M. Renkly at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. In 1977, after the death of his father, David started trucking on his own as Cooper Trucking. He did custom trucking, hauling anhydrous and LP, and was contracted with Dan Dugan, Petroleum Carriers, Wayne Transport, and Jensen Transport. David and his wife, Dianne, owned and operated Diannes Dinette.
David was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Vernon Center, was active with the Vernon Center Community Club, and volunteered on the Vernon Center Zoning Board. He was a great joke teller, enjoyed visiting with his friends, and loved trucking.
David will be greatly missed by his mother, Marie Cooper of Vernon Center; brother, James Cooper and his wife, Carol of Farmington; father-in-law, Oscar Renkly of Blue Earth; four sisters-in-law, Beverly Peterson and husband, Donald of Vernon Center, Helen Renkly of Blue Earth, Judy Murphy and husband, Charles of Blue Earth, Sandra Miller and husband, Kris of Mapleton; brother-in-law, Gregory Renkly and wife, Anne of Rochester; aunts and uncles, Robert and Audrey Cooper of Mankato, Ruby Jarvis of Finlayson, Marion Cooper Christensen of Forest Lake, Richard and June Cooper of Sun City, FL, Luella and Lyle Roberts of Mankato, Eugene and Helen McMonagle of Madelia, Barbara Peterson of Vernon Center; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1977, and his wife on August 16, 2000.
