John Willock, age 59 of Mankato, died Friday morning, November 7, 2003 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Clarence John Willock was born June 26, 1944 in Madelia to Willard and Lavon (Bason) Willock. In 1962, he graduated from Madelia High School and later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Mankato State College. He married Ruth Kelsey on august 22, 1964 in Madelia. They later divorced. While living in Platteville, WI, John taught middle school science for 24 years and coached wrestling for many years. He received his Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. John earned his LPN degree in 1999 from Mankato Technical College and worked in Home Health Care. John was a volunteer for Vine and the ESL Computer Lab. He was a member of the Mankato Single Solos for nine years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Bible Study Fellowship. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and walking.
Survivors include three daughters and their spouses, Robyn and Pete Dammel of Ankeny, Iowa, Rebecca and Randy Sporle of Mineral Point, WI, Jennifer and Chad Wolter of LaCrosse, WI; three grandchildren; close friend, Antonia Valadez of Mankato; two brothers and their wives, Lyle and Marlene Willock, Daryl and Julie Willock all of Coon Rapids; a sister, Gloria Kusy and husband, Jerome of Jacksonville, NC; mother of his children, Ruth Willock of Platteville, WI; aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Willard Jr., and several uncles.
