James A. Borneke, age 74, of rural Eagle Lake, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with Rev. Norman Greve officiating. Burial in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
James A. Borneke was born November 12, 1928 to Clarence and Anna (Johnson) Borneke in LeRay Township, Blue Earth County. He attended District 140, Blue Earth County School with perfect attendance through the 8th grade before attending St. Clair High School. James was united in marriage to Donna Gens on March 21, 1953 at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. Jim served his country in the U. S. Army from 1951-1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was an independent truck driver in the area before working and retiring from Tow Distributing in 1990. Jim was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Eagle Lake American Legion Post # 617. He enjoyed handyman projects, fishing, hunting, playing cards, summers at Madison Lake and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of rural Eagle Lake; three children, Michael Borneke and his wife, Barbie of Eagle Lake, Rebecca Curtis and her husband, Brian of rural Mankato, Douglas Borneke of Rochester; six grandchildren, Douglas, Daniel and Amy Curtis, Scott, Josie and Zachary Borneke; mother, Anna Borneke of Mankato; one brother, Robert Borneke and wife, Joyce of Nicollet; one sister, LaVern Freitag and husband, Kenneth of Pemberton; nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his father.
