Donald Blasing

Donald Don Blasing, 67 of Lake Crystal died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at his home in Lake Crystal.

Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Interment with military honors in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Saturday. If so desired memorials may be given to an organization of the donors choice.

Mr. Blasing was born on July 29, 1936 in Mankato to Lester and Helen (Broderius) Blasing. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in June of 1954. Donald served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957 during the Korean Conflict, Donald was a medic and played football for his army division. He married Sonja M. Oftedahl on September 10, 1962. She died June of 1967. Don married Ann L. Erickson on August 16, 1968. He was a 40 year member of Bricklayers Union, 30 year member of John Roth American Legion Post 294 where he served on the honor guard. He was active on the Lake Crystal chapter of Ducks Unlimited and served on the board for 15 years. He enjoyed watching softball, playing cards, following professional and college sports.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ann of Lake Crystal; daughter, Becky and her husband, Todd Sittig of Lake Crystal; two sons, Chad Blasing of Lake Crystal, Eric Blasing of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Brianna and Paige Sittig of Lake Crystal and Josh Sittig of Monticello; brothers, Keith and Margaret Blasing of New Ulm, Paul and Joan Blasing of Eagan; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Sonja; and brothers, Kenneth and John; and an infant sister.
