Dean J. Como, age 53, of North Mankato, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at his home.

Memorial services 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Friday (TODAY) at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before services at church on Saturday. If so desired memorials may be given to Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospice Program

Dean was born December 16, 1949 to Joseph and Mary (Alcorn) Como in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He graduated in 1967 from Belview High School, Belview, Minnesota. Dean attended Mankato State University and the Colorado School of Welding in Denver. He married Susan A. Welch on August 29, 1970 in Seaforth, Minnesota. Dean served his country with the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1972. He owned and operated Como Welding for 15 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Belview American Legion Club, Belview. He was also a former member of the Mankato Area Hockey Association and the Bow Benders Archery Club. Dean was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved car racing, and had coached youth hockey for many years.

Dean is survived by his wife, Sue of North Mankato; two sons, Mike Como and his wife, Misty of Waseca. Jamie Como of North Mankato; grandson, Blake Como; mother, Mary Como of Belview; brother, Mark Como of North Mankato; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, and his grandparents.
