John Arthur Sombke, age 37, of rural Good Thunder, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
John was born on January 29, 1966 in Mankato. He was the son of Marlin and Beverly (Schubbe) Sombke. John was a 1984 graduate of Amboy-Good Thunder High School. He farmed with his father and brother. John was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
John is survived by his two sons, Luke and Marc Sombke of Mapleton; fianc, Gena Johnson of rural Good Thunder; parents, Marlin and Beverly Sombke of rural Good Thunder; one sister and her husband, Christine and Kevin FitzSimmons of rural Good Thunder; one brother and his wife, Paul and Ellen Sombke of rural Good Thunder; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Marian Schubbe of Mapleton; two nephews, Joshua and Samuel Sombke; three nieces, Ashley, Jessica, and Megan FitzSimmons; aunts and uncles, Margaret and Kenneth Ganzel of rural Mankato, Lynn and Myrna Braun of North Mankato; also great aunts and uncles, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; one sister, Lori in 1964; one aunt, Marilyn Braun.
