Harold Baarts

Harold E. Baarts, age 95, of Vernon Center, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donors choice.

Harold E. Baarts was born July 27, 1908 in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County. He married Florence Cooling on June 30, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. For 65 years, he sold Rawleigh and Fuller Brush products in Blue Earth and Waseca Counties. He was forced to retire on May 21, 1993, when he suffered a stroke. He enjoyed his family, work, visiting with his customers and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Baarts; son H. Calvin Baarts; grandsons, Eric and Adam Baarts, all of Vernon Center. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Chrys Baarts and grandson, Scott Daniel Baarts.
