Dorothy Mae Wirig, 75 of Rush City, formerly of Madison Lake died Monday, October 13, 2003 at her home.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake, with Rev. Patrick Arens officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake. Visitation on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before services at church on Friday. If so desired memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Dorothy was born February 10, 1928 in Waseca County, MN to Charles J. and Rosemary E. (Mc Donough) Patton. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Ronald Wirig on April 21, 1952 in Mason City, IA, he died April 15, 1989. She married Carl Knutson on October 7, 1994 in Madison Lake, he died February 13, 1998. She married James Norris Sr. on July 27, 2001 in Pine City.
She worked at Mankato Corporation for 14 years and Midwest Electric for 11 years. She did volunteer work both in Mankato and Pine City. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake and St. Marys Catholic Church, Pine City. She was a member of the C.C.W. and Mankato American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed travel, camping, reading and prayer groups.
She is survived by her husband, James Norris Sr. of Rush City; seven children; Steve Patton of Nuevo, CA, David Wirig and wife, Karen of Madison Lake, Mona Gottschalk and husband, Steve of Mankato, Jerri Reinbold and husband, Rick of Eagle Lake, Richard Wirig of Madison Lake, Rose Petersen and special friend, David Hoffman of Mankato, Jeff Wirig and wife, Lora of Eagle Lake; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dick Patton of Petaluma, CA, Jerry Patton and wife, Marlene, Rochester; four sisters, Roseann Salfer and husband, Allen of Atlantic Beach, FL, Carol Bollman of Janesville, Marlene Austad and husband, Dale of Spring Hill, FL, Katie Holt and husband, Chuck of Loogootee, IN; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Patton, Gwen Anderson, Judy Osborne and husband, David; aunt, Mildred Harguth; 6 step-children; special friends, Annie and Joel Swedeen of Askov, MN; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, a son, a grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
