Donald John Phillips, age 37, of rural Madison Lake, died Thursday, October 9, 2003.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Rev. Patrick Arens officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary with a 5 p.m. prayer service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Donald was born June 15, 1966 in St. Paul to Donald John and Suzanne S. (Kellogg) Phillips. Donald worked in the tree service industry while living in St. Paul, Washington, and Oregon before moving to the Mankato area. On October 28, 1988, he married Valarie Anderson in St. Paul and was later divorced. On November 23, 1999, he was united in marriage to Maureen Moldashel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Donald had owned and operated Phillips Tree Service and most recently Visions Tree Service. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and belonged to the Mens C League Hockey. He loved nature and was an avid outdoors man.
Survivors include his wife, Maureen Phillips and their daughter, Bailey Jane Phillips, both of Madison Lake; two sons, Nicholas John Phillips and Tyler John Phillips both of Kasota; mother, Suzanne Kellogg and her husband, Richard Schwendeman of Cottage Grove; father, Donald (Big D) Phillips of Madison Lake; grandmother, Lori Brunner of Inver Grove Heights; uncle, Steve VandeWater of St. Paul; stepbrothers and stepsisters, including, Darwin Phillips of Waseca; nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, a grandfather, an uncle, and a stepsister.
