Norbert G. Anderson, age 81, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. James H. Pragman officiating. Burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the services at church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donors choice.
Norbert was born August 8, 1922 in Mankato, Minnesota to Chris and Rose (Jordan) Anderson. He was a 1941 Mankato High School graduate and served in the United States Air Force from 1942-1945. On October 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Brown in Mankato.
Norbert was employed for Mankato School District 77 for 35 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a life member of both the American Legion Post 11 and VFW Post 950. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing cards. He was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed all sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Anderson of North Mankato; three children, Nancy Hansen and husband, Larry of Mankato, Steven C. Anderson and fianc, Paula Sanders of New Ulm, Barbara Lindsay and husband, Jim of Mankato; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Kopischke of Lake Crystal, Betty Ann Moon and husband, Darrell of Tucson, AZ, Lois Jane Reynolds and husband, Tom of Mankato; nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marvin C. Anderson.
