Lauri Kuch, 53 of North Mankato passed away peacefully on Thursday April 11th, 2013 with her husband by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of Roger (deceased) and Delores Gilbertson (Benson, AZ), Lauri grew up in Wadena, MN, one of five children. After graduating from Wadena High School she attended Fergus Falls Community College and Moorhead State University, where she earned a degree in Special Education. In college she met her soul mate and husband of nearly 30 years, Keith Kuch of Lamoure, ND. They were united in marriage in 1983. They were blessed with the birth of their son Tyler in 1989.

Lauri was a woman of strong faith and love for her family and friends. She was kindhearted and always thinking of others. Lauri's caring heart and ability to start a conversation helped to form bonds and build friendships near and far. She will be remembered for always thinking of others and keeping a positive outlook, even when facing life's most difficult struggles. The twinkle of her eye and her contagious laugh arose from her incredible strength, unwavering faith, and depth of love and commitment to family and friends.

Lauri was a lifelong teacher not only in the classroom, but also in her everyday life and interactions with her family and friends. She traveled to Norway for student teaching, and after graduation taught in St. Louis, MO and a number of elementary schools in Mankato. She was currently teaching second grade at Rosa Parks Elementary in Mankato.

Lauri was preceded in death by her father, Roger Gilbertson, her father-in-law, Elmer Kuch and her brother-in-law, Roger Kuch. She is survived by her devoted husband Keith and loving son Tyler, mother Delores Gilbertson, mother-in-law Geraldine Kuch, brother Lee (Marilyn) Gilbertson, brother Rob (Pam) Gilbertson, brother Jon (Irina) Gilbertson, sister Beth (Larry) Pappenfus, sister-in-law Jeannine (Roger) Preszler, brother-in-law Irv (Mary) Kuch and many nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato on Tuesday, April 16th from 4 to 8 p.m., and continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
