Leonard Pierson, age 86 of Mankato, died peacefully, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Keystone Community.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Dr. Scott E. Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Mausoleum at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Alzheimer Association, Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice Program, or the donor's choice.

Leonard was born June 8, 1927 to Anton and Helen (Fanning) Pierson on the home farm near St. James, Minnesota. He attended country school in Rosendale Township. Leonard was united in marriage to Viola (Vi) Rose, on April 16, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota. Leonard worked with Rose Construction of Welcome, road construction on Hammond Highway near St. James, farming in the Lake Crystal area, and founded LK & K Pierson Trucking Inc. of Lake Crystal in 1987.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, Minnesota Trucking Association, and former board member of Lake Crystal Coop.

Leonard enjoyed trips to Branson and Nashville. He also traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, and out west. He loved to spend time with his family and coffee with friends at HyVee.

Leonard in survived by his wife, Vi Pierson of Mankato; five children, Pat (Wayne) Krosch of Vernon Center, Keith (Konnie) Pierson of North Mankato, Deb (Steve) Krosch of Lake Crystal, Kevin (Rose) Pierson of Lake Crystal, Michelle (Chris) Nichols of St. Paul, MN; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sister, Evie Pierson and special friend, Sam Gilligan of Mankato; brother, Wayne (Connie) Pierson of St. James; sister-in-law, Joyce Pierson of St. James; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roger, Donald, Larry Pierson; sister, Charlotte Heckman; brother-in-law Lloyd Heckman; sister-in-law, Ida Pierson.
